Takaaki Bando

Teacher

Takaaki Bando is a Professor at the Department of Science of Design in Musashino Art University (MAU), Japan, and a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Art and Design in Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia. He had studied under the most respected graphic designer, the late Etsushi Kiyohara.

Takaaki Bando established Takaaki Bando Design, Inc., and had served as Lecturer at the Department of Visual Design in MAU, and at the Department of Architecture in Waseda University, Japan. He had served also as Special Lecturer at Fachhochschule für Gestaltung Schwabicsh Gmünd, and Hochschule Bremen, Germany, and Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, and as Design Director and Guest Jury of Kieler Woche 1996, Germany.

Takaaki Bando’s body of works includes providing art direction for Justsystem, Origin Co./Estic Co., and Tosa Washi Village, Japan, total design for Tokushima Modern Art Museum, Japan, and Kieler Woche, Germany, the development of illumination for Tokyo Dome City, Japan, and research and development of the autonomy robot.

Takaaki Bando’s works were celebrated and recognized with multiple awards from international bodies including Axis, the Japanese Graphic Designers Association, Japan, and the New York Type Directors Club, U.S.

Takaaki Bando graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the prestigious MAU, Japan.
